Does Amazon Ship 'kindle' To Buyers In Thailand ?

I went to buy a Kindle at B2S Chidlom but they were out of stock. Pattaya B2S out also. In fact, Thailand is out of stock for the Kindle Paperwhite, the model I'm after [though they still advertise it on the Thai kindle store site] The reason I went fishing around B2S was that the Thai Kindle website didn't answer my query and also I'd heard Amazon doesn't ship to individuals in Thailand [for whatever reason]. Anybody had one shipped from Amazon to Thailand? Any problems, extra charges? I'd appreciate any tips. I'm sick of paying stupid prices for 2nd hand books. Thanks and yuletide joy upon you,

My info isn't current but I know that at one point they didn't ship here (said so on Amazon site -- did you check?).

I had to get mine from a Thai "agent" - in it's unopened original box but w/ charger (not usually included w/ purchase) and a decent cover/stand. And all warranties etc. Cost a couple grand more that way.

Amazon do ship some models to Thailand but the do not yet ship the paperwhite. I think they prefer to catch up with US demand.

Oops. Didn't see that. Might have changed in the last 9 months but they didn't ship the Touch or the Fire when I was after the latter but also considering the former.

Yeah - this is the dude that doesn't reply to queries...look at the comments; how many people are finding stuff 'out of stock '

Sorry. Realized after posting that you might have seen it since it was the first thing I found but I'm sick in bed and couldn't summon energy to look further.

If you don't get an answer before then, tomorrow I'll get contact info for the people I used.

I bought a kindle off Amazon from Thailand no problem, the Kindle Fire came up that they could not ship here though. If you try and order one their website will quickly tell you if it can be shipped or not.

The easiest way to see if they ship to Thailand is to try and order one and stick your Thai address in. I've seen in the past that they do but the Kindle must be ordered from Amazon.com. They won't ship from Amazon.co.uk.

I had a Kindle shipped to me here in Thailand from Amazon.com. Took about 2 weeks.

As mentioned before, I don't think the whole range is available. I got the 3G with the keypad plus the hardcover. They charged me extra for import duties, then later they refunded me that money when some law or something changed. Don't know the full details, but was pleasantly surprised to get a refund without asking.

Cheers.

Interesting. I may need kindles next year for the kids & would hope to order from UK showing both addresses (Billing address & delivery address). A glance at their website a few days ago lead me to believe this was possible.

Mine just broke here on Koh Phangan and they seem to have no problem shipping a replacement to Bangkok for me at no charge...

Off topic sorry, but I just got a new Kindle Fire HD. It has the best screen, sound, and wifi ability of any tablet or notebook I've seen. It was only about $50 more than the best Kindle Paperwhite, and it's a full computer. It has two screen settings; one for paperwhite and one full color. It does text, email, web surfing, etc. in full color, or switches to paperwhite for reading. I downloaded an audio book and the sound is amazing.

Somehow it has a dual channel, dual antenna wifi that will really pull in a signal.

Does it really have two screen settings, including "Paperwhite", which I understood was E Ink?

Well, I shouldn't have spoken so fast. I don't know, and I do know what you're talking about. It has two screen settings, one for full color HD, and another for black and white reading and it's wonderfully crystal clear - more so by far than my other notebook when reading a black and white page.

I'm unable to answer your question with web research or the manual. I can only rave about the clarity even in daylight.
