December 26, 201213 yr Hey Does anyone know about a sound travel insurance: the keywords are top refund for lost/damaged luggage and refund for the trips ( air tickets as well as hotels) This would be for a trip around June No rush but would like to get this matter out of the way Trips are from Thailand to Europe, Middle East and back Thanks Edited December 26, 201213 yr by alyx
December 26, 201213 yr https://www.worldnomads.com Never had to make a claim but the claims and policy wording seems up to scratch and fairly easy. Have a look. Edited December 26, 201213 yr by newcomer01
December 27, 201213 yr https://www.worldnomads.com Never had to make a claim but the claims and policy wording seems up to scratch and fairly easy. Have a look. There was a thread running on this in the Pattaya Section I recommended worldnomads and someone said they had made a claim and faced no problems at all. I will try and find the link. Found It Edited December 27, 201213 yr by RabC
December 27, 201213 yr I've used Worldnomads a fewl times after seeing several recommendations on thaivisa. So far no complaints, and thankfully no claims either. They offer a small discount to returning customers. There are also various discount codes around which can save you a few baht. Edited December 27, 201213 yr by Shrubbery
December 27, 201213 yr If you plan to hire a bike to ride , check the clauses regarding bikes. Colombus covers bikes but only up to 125 or 150 cc . Not too sure about World Nomads .
December 27, 201213 yr I use Columbus regularly as they include good medical cover. Have never needed to make a claim but they insure through Lloyds so should be sound.
December 29, 201213 yr I’ve used Worldnomad a few times (the underwriter is Bupa). Their website is very easy to use. I have never had a claim. Now, looking at Columbus Travel. Also very easy to use. I’m no insurance guru, but their prices seem to be about ½ of Worldnomad, for about the same coverage. Any thoughts?

I’m no insurance guru, but their prices seem to be about ½ of Worldnomad, for about the same coverage. Any thoughts? I just checked for a 1 week trip to Bali in April and Nomads is US$32 or 35 and Columbus US$ 45 I believe Nomad was cheaper as I was able to say I wouldn't be visiting the USA.
December 29, 201213 yr Just checked worldnomads website.Age limit : 66 years Bummer Yes, my last year with them. theoldgit
December 31, 201213 yr Author Thanks for all the input worldnomads sounds corect but prices are a bit high and, reading through, there are a lot of restrictions
January 1, 201313 yr BUPA Thailand and LMG do travel insurances for anywhere in the world. BUPA in Thailand has a very poor reputation for claims and reading their policy they are pathetically restrictive. Give teh folks at AA Insure a bell, they can speak Eng-Rish and seem on the ball with "western" style policies.
January 1, 201313 yr I use Columbus regularly as they include good medical cover. Have never needed to make a claim but they insure through Lloyds so should be sound. They also have an upper age limit, 64 if resident in Thailand. theoldgit
January 2, 201313 yr Just checked worldnomads website. Age limit : 66 years Bummer Yermanee Very realistic advice. In the end the best travel insurance is yourself.
January 10, 201313 yr Author Based on your advice I have searched furthermore and looked into Nomad and Colombus: I have found quite a lot of restrictions in small prints but also a nice blog talking about three different insurances and, in my case, I would lean towards Travelguard ( which, by the way, I have used in the past, no claims ever) The site is called The nunomad blog and, interstingly enough, it is a member of World Nomad, which does make it more reliable when it comes to positive comments aimed at concurrent companies http://www.nunomad.com/blog/how-to-choose-the-best-travel-insurance-ricardos-experience/ Pay attention to the comparison chart ( although only three insurances are listed) and the * at the end of the blog
