Switching Jobs And Visas

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am currently on a Non B extension of stay tied to my work permit. I am also married to a Thai. I will be changing jobs soon. Whats the best visa option for me after that.....I really dont want to do a visa run.

Also do i cancel my work permit or should my incompetent boss? As soon as i cancel the WP i understand i must leave within 24 hours....So in relation to above information whats my best options?

Thanks in advance

Actually you must leave the day your employment ends (last paid day of work) regardless of work permit status unless you get a new extension of stay. I would cancel the work permit as it is yours and if not canceled properly there will be a fine when you apply again. You should be able to extend your stay 60 days on basis of marriage (to visit wife) if you can not meet the one year extension of stay for Thai Wife requirements of 400k in bank account 2 months. After you have new job you may also have the option of 40k per month salary for either Thai wife extension or employment.

If you are making 40K baht or more income now you could try to get the extension before you end your employment. Just show tax payments and work permit.
