It's my Sons Birthday next week and he's keen to visit the 4D cinema at Chiang Mai zoo, rubbish or not he has his heart set on it so I'll have to take him.

I noticed they have another branch at Airport Plaza, this will be an easier option for me. Does anyone know if there are any major differences between the two branches?

I'd also like to know if anyone has tried it, I'm press ganged into it already but would be interested in others views.

I noticed the one at Central Plaza this afternoon for the first time. It looked to me more of a ride than a cinema experience, similar to the Star Wars ride at Disney (or is it the MGM Studios?) although that one isn't in 3D. Adults 100 baht and kids 50 baht - there's a ton of stuff on Google and at the company's site. I would guess it's a fairly short ride as I'd think you'd need a constitution of cast iron to handle the motion and the 3D for more than about 10 minutes and keep your lunch down.

Fun for kids but I don't know that I'd base a day's activity around it.

We've tried that one in the ZOO...my girls loved it...you get tossed around a lot,but it is only for a few minutes,so it's OK...They do have a number of 'rides' and we've picked the Canyon Roller-coaster and that's like to be the best...

I would assume that the one in The Plaza should be similar....

Did this myself. Lot's of fun. Can imagine it's like heaven for kids since it's very exciting. Sure your son will love it (think any boy will)

its the same. if you have no plans or activity after the event, go for the chiang mai zoo option. its just a 5 mins ride. after the ride, you could get in the small snow dome, aquarium etc etc. touristy, cheesy whatever but i might think kids would enjoy that.

of course if you had already plans being made for the day, just drop by the airport branch

...and if you go to the ZOO...The Sky Ranger rope ride is great!

Did the one at the Airport Plaza. 100 baht for about 5 minutes of great fun. They have about 10 different rides to choose from. Did it again after a bit of shopping. Best fun I've had for 100 baht for a long time biggrin.png

My girls love it - they have ridden allt he rides at Airport Plazza and wait for new ones to come along (they didn't like the Toy shop one as it was too kiddified for them - or the fair ground one as they don't like clowns!). Only takes 5 minutes, but there is never a queue and he can always have a few rides.

I took my 5 year old on the one at Airport Plaza yesterday. He loved it. Its a virtual roller coaster ride with a choice of a dozen or so scenarios to choose from. It's not up to the standard of the one at Disney Land in Hong Kong that I took my stepson to a few years ago, but still enough to thrill a young child. 100 baht for an adult and 50 baht for the son and heir.
