December 30, 201213 yr hello is there anyone know about if getting married with Thai citizen, can I become thai citizen?
December 30, 201213 yr Do a search on Thai Citizenship. There is a lot of information about that in TV.
December 30, 201213 yr It does not make you a Thai citizen or even allow you to stay in Thailand for longer than 90 days at a time without meeting other conditions. But the route to citizenship (3-5 years normal) is a bit easier with marriage although still requires a record of 40k or so per month employment and an extended period of time.
December 31, 201213 yr Normally only the male is expected to be employed for Thai extensions of stay or citizenship requirements based on marriage AFAIK. But for outside marriage expect it would be the same requirement.
January 1, 201313 yr Men with Thai wives apply under Sections 10 and 11.4 of the Nationality Act, while women women with Thai hubbies apply under Section 9. Males thus need an occupation in Thailand which currently means a job paying 40+k and three years' tax receipts. Since women are not expected to be able to work, their Thai hubbies have to show they can support them by proving income of at least 15k a month. Once all is done and dusted the women can only lose their Thai nationality for committing some heinous offence against public morally or, if she lied in her application. The men can also lose their nationality for living abroad for over 5 years and/or making use of their former nationality. This is not something to be undertaken lightly because it is an extremely long and tedious process that needs considerable stamina and staying power, Good luck, if you decide to go for it.
