I am 4 months into a job situation here in Thailand and have received a visa and work permit for 12 months (which expire Jan 14. 2007).

I have decided that this job is not to my liking...my office already has possession of my work permit. If I quit, they want me to give them my passport so that they can cancell my working visa...and I will be left with 7 days to (on my own) get some type of new visa.

Question is:

What if I do not (perhaps I forgot) give them back my passport and move to a different part of the country (which I will)...and live on my current one year visa...

will there be any negative ramafications for me...?

Everyday past the 7 days, you will be fined 200 Baht per day for overstay. Additional 200 Baht fine per each family member over 14 years old that is a dependent on your extension of stay based on business. Maximum fine is 20,000 Baht for you along with a maximum fine of 20,000 Baht per family member. If found to be overstay, your family ( if you have one here as a dependent) and you risk being put in jail and deported.
