Athens To Kl Flight

Featured Replies

I will be booking a return flight from athens to kl in the next 48 hours but the irony is that the plane stops en route in bangkok then continues to kl yet the athens to bangkok passengers are paying 50 euros more then the kl passengers despite their flight being of shorter duration

Anyone had experience of this sort of thing and would i be within my rights to get off in bangkok without compromising my return flight to/from kl?

It's a plane not a bus.

The ticketing rules are different. Quite apart from anything else the fare differences can reflect the different landing charges and taxes in different countries.

Aside from that, failure to fly/board any sector renders any remaining sectors invalid. It's entirely possible for you to disembark in BKK assuming you don't have checked baggage. Might even pass unnoticed. On the other hand is it worth risking your return flight......

Yeah, is not uncommon for domestic flights in the US. Or was.

Some people would figure this out and buy the cheaper ticket, then get off at the transfer point and not return to the plane. It became so common that the airlines took action, I think they would blacklist the offenders who would then have to pay a fine or something for the privilege of using their fine services in the future.

Yep. The problems it causes are with the head count and passenger manifest. No problem if you fail to fly a final sector but doing it midway with the return sector still to come is asking for trouble.

Seems like good advice guys and its not as straightforward as i first thought

Probably wouldn't do any harm to spend a week in kl then fly up to bangkok but atm the flights with air asia for mid january and around 64 euro+ so anyone know of any other budget carriers who fly that route(ie bangkok/kl)?

Only AA amongst budget carriers.Other airlines fly it but not cheaper. You might find a week in KL overkill, personally would rather spend the week drifting up through Malaysia to Penang and then Bangkok but each to their own smile.png

That would be the way to go. Train KL to Butterworth, hop over to Penang for a few days then train from Butterworth to Bangkok. Nice trip.

I fly from Athens, and I always use one of the Middle East airlines. Used to use Gulf Air, but they stopped flying to ATH unfortunately, You can usually find ok prices on the others ATH-BKK. You need to check layover times though.
