I want to go to Khon Kaen in a couple weeks. I need to be there on Jan 25-26, so I thought about leaving Thursday afternoon and coming back sometime on Sunday.

Any tips on how to get there? Flying round-trip from Chiang Mai to Khon Kaen is undesireable. I'm looking at around 9k baht for tickets, whereas flying round-trip to Udon Thani is only 4300 baht. This seems the best bet, but I'm kind of lost on what to do from there. I would like to take a bus, Nakhon Chai Air if possible. I can't find any information for that route on their website, so I will probably call tomorrow.

Other travel constraints: I will get off of work on Thursday around 4 or 5 and need to be back on Monday morning.

Any good tips, advice, experience to share would be greatly appreciated. Flaming, distractions, and heckling will kindly receive an eye-rolling and possibly a chuckle.
