Visa For My Girlfriend

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Next month I am coming for work in Thailand on business visa. I would like my girlfriend accompanying me asap, and staying with me during the time that I am in Thailand.

What are our possibilities for her to stay? Is there some possibility for some kind of dependent visa for her, while I am there?

We are planning getting married by end of this year but we would rather avoid marrying in rush just for visa.

Both Croatian citizens.

Thx for help.

She is not a dependent so she will have to get tourist visas and do border runs,

Yes. She will have to find her own reasons to stay.

Tourist Visa or maybe enrol in a Thai Language School and get Education Visa.

When I came over last year, we had to do the Ed visa route.. Don't expect to learn much of the language with the courses you purchase, since the majority of the places offering this service are not particularly focused on the teaching side...

Write the fees off as visa costs and renew the Ed visa every three months until you get around to putting a ring on her finger....

She should get a 3 entry tourist visa before leaving which would give her a stay of almost 9 months by getting 30 day extensions of each 60 day entry without getting a new visa. That means only doing 2 border runs after she arrives and 3 trips to the immigration office for the extensions.

Yes, this 3 entry tourist visa sounds great. We don`t even need more than 9 month. Excellent, thank you!

Any advice for medical insurance while she is there?

Are the prices in Thai for medical treatment without medical insurance really high or you will not end broke if something does happen?

A travel insurence is always best and doesn't cost all that much. Better safe than sorry.

Prices can be low or high, depending on the nature of the emergency and if it is a private or public hospital.

Check your current 1. Could be that it is valid because you stay not longer than a year.

I am not sure that I know what are you talking about. What you mean that I need to check?

I should stay more than a year, because my contract lasts longer, but who knows.

Your GF stays not longer then 9 months. If she has a medical insurance in her own country that could be valid too.

Many travel insuerance policies limit the stay outside the home country to 1 year minus 1 day and it must be a holiday, not for instance working in another country.
