Chiang Mai Travel Agents Selling Eurail Passes?

Featured Replies

Has anyone purchased an Eurail Pass at a travel agency here in Chiang Mai?

Would appreciate any referral information. Thanks.

You could try eurail.com & book direct.

Yes I've tried that but they mail the pass to you which is always somewhat problematic here in Thailand given our experience.

Things have been returned to sender stating that we never claimed items at the post office (we are never home when they try to deliver

it seems) though they never left a notice that they tried to deliver (they have on some occassions but not others).

.

However the bigger problem is that the website seemingly is unable to deal with our Thai address. Evidently it is too long and

laid out in a way that just won't compute with their system. I have been unable to get them to respond adequately on how they

can make it fit into their system. Can do a complete manual order with them but thought if there was local option that would

be far less trouble and more reliable than depending on Thai postal system.

You might try Rail Europe. They are in Singapore and service Asia generally and Thailand in particular. Especially check out items 1 and 8 on the FAQ. This company is recommended by Seat61.com which is the first place I head for anything to do with rail travel anywhere in the world.

Thanks for the information David,

In checking out the Rail Europe site I have found that I can get the passes from them

but it will end up costing about 2500B more than the Eurail.com site for the same product/service.

It will still be coming through the Thai mail system not through Fedex/DHL or UPS so Rail Europe

is charging 5 times more for the same mailing as the other. You mentioned an office

in Singapore but that isn't shown on the webpage-only Japan and Korea in Asia. On principle I'll keep

trying to find a local travel agent that can hand deliver it to me.

Ah, sorry. From reading the FAQ on their webpage, it looked as though you could download the pass and print it out yourself. At least that is what the first item in the FAQ seems to say. IN this day and age, that would be a proper solutions.

Definitely check out seat61.com if you need information about time schedules, etc

Good luck and enjoy the trip.

David
