I live in Phuket and haven't been into Patong since before the tsunami. If you stay in Karon, you can easily get to Patong for a night out within ten minutes. kasi Posted February 23, 2006 Share Posted February 23, 2006 Karon is Boring. (note the capitol B!) The beach is ok but way to exposed. I like Kata and Nai Harn better. Patong is nice for the lively variety of everything. It is a bit noisy and in your face. But five minutes in any direction takes you out of the madness. Patong wins hands down. But since the poll forced a choice, I voted Patong, as at least it's fun and has some character as a place. Karon, on the other hand, is a totally dull, generic resort area - beach is nothing special and the crowd positively geriatric (am referring to mental age, as well as physical).
