Lite Beer
Local politicians implicated in Rohingya smuggling racket. By Digital Media BANGKOK, Jan 15 - A senior Thai security official today pointed a finger at local politicians for their involvement in the smuggling of Rohingya ethnic people into Thailand. Paradon Pattanathabutr, National Security Council secretary general, said Thai immigration police were speeding up their investigations to determine if the Rohingya people's entry into Thailand was related to human trafficking. Nearly 1,000 Rohingya migrants have been separately arrested in the southern province of Songkhla. He said local politicians involved in the case will be questioned. A group of Rohingya migrants was arrested while hiding in a remote house belonged to a local politician. Lt-Gen Paradon said the migrants from Myanmar have been treated humanely while the Department of Special Investigation and the Immigration Department will determine if their escapes were related to human trafficking networks. Children and women have been placed under the care of the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, he said. Popular Post Misterwhisper
What we really, really WANT to read is that finally some of these "local politicians", who - as we all know - allegedly have their greedy fingers in all sorts of illegal activities, go behind bars for years and years. But I am just daydreaming.
Popular Post slapout
Why do you think these people are sent back to their country of orgin, most quickly? No witness to implicate any Thai who may have been involved and have additional names up the ladder, thus back to square one.
Popular Post Katipo
Here's a twist: Imagine if the Politician was smuggling them into Thailand for humane reasons and not (soley for) profit. Wouldn't it be cool if this was done to save them from the brutality currently taking place in Burma, because certainly the Thai government isn't doing anything. Yeah, I know it's unlikely, but wouldn't it be great?
Locationthailand
Why does this headline not surprise me? There appears no limit to the depths of corruption with politicians and not just Thailand. Just look at the US, UK, Italy and even Australia where the Prime Minister is being blanched in Unions scams. But I doubt anything will change in our lifetime. perijon58
Yeah we have these Rohingya in Darwin (where the putrid socialists of Julia "The Welsh Stump" Gillard) are hiding hundreds of Africans. These people do not fit in...period. Where the aims and ambitions of the Neo Marxist United Nations are more important than Australia's national sovereignty. Some of these Rohingya came to look for work where I work. Their attitude was like we should give them a job, and one was a bit retarded I am sure. I said are you illegal immigrant (Asylum Seeker in socialist speak)? He said: no, no, I come Australian government, government bring me. Yeah, poeple here can't even get jobs, and these so-called immigrants get more benefits than Australian citizens on Centrelink payments. It's costing the Australian taxpayer $billions. So, what do they do? Rob Peter to pay Paul. Borrow money from private banks to pay for all this, as we don't have the revenue to cover it. Increase the aged pension retirement age. Cut back disability pensioners entitlement to leave the country from 26 weeks to 6 weeks (new 2013 budget amendments): See Dept Human Resources. And on and on it goes. Originaly these Rohingya where from Bangladesh, and the British brought them to Myanmar (British Burma) as sweated labour. Politicians and Capital turning the world into a squat toilet. Quite a lot of my Asian friends agree with me, so this is not some big bad redneck whitey attacking poor defenceless illegal immigrants. Just remember, these people put themselves in this position, no one else. In reality they should be sent to Bangladesh, as they are ethnically so. But oh no bro! they want to go to a western country where they can earn good money and bring their families out under the family reunion scheme. Who is using who here? No wonder there is a cosy relationship between the Left and Capital these days.

No wonder there is a cosy relationship between the Left and Capital these days. You need to do further research. The area where the Rohingya live was occupied by the Burmese in the 1700s and has remained Burmese territory to date. Rohingya who have crossed over to Bangladesh to escape Burmese oppression are not recognised by the Bangladesh government and many have remained in camps, stateless, for 20+ years. Bangladesh will not accept them. The Burmese government revoked Rohingya citizenship in 1982, not permitted to own land, no education services from the State & not permitted by law to have more than 2 children. Would you not be seeking to escape the oppression? If Australians cannot get a job, how about increasing their skills, as the Australian government is providing 457 visas & skilled migrant visas, due to a lack of skilled labour in Australia. I guess it's a lot easier to sit back and blame migrants/refugees whilst receiving Centrelink payments. BTW the Australian government is not reducing Centrelink benefits as an outcome of the increased refugee intake. More likely because of the 7 million Australians receiving some form of welfare payments. As an Australian, I am always embarrassed by the depth of racism/bigotry expressed by some Australians. I guess they must be proud to reduce to tears migrants coming to Australia, such as my Thai wife when racist comments were openly stated to her when waiting for a bus, shopping etc Thankfully she toughened up, but what ignorant cowards they are. Ozzie's don't seem to have any respect for the culture and way of life they took away from the Aborigines. A little pay back dosen't seem to set to well for them. Yes and all that money and free medical services they are giving them, plus cheap loans housing and education. It should bloody well be stopped, they never had it before so don't need it now.
oldsailor35
This article only mentions Politicians. Nothing about the top Army generals and other officers all members of ISOC, who have been at it for years. It is costing the country millions of baht. So these army officers if found guilty should be stripped of everything and their assets taken to pay for the damage they are causing.
oldsailor35
You also need to do some more research ! These tradesmen being brought into Australia are going to be cut back as they are not being brought in because of lack of labour, but in fact , some employers are 'wroughting' the system and bringing them in for cheap labour. mostly in the building and construction industry. As for your wife, maybe it would be a good idea if you could explain to her that Australians in general are fed up with people from 3rd world countries 'barging' into Australia and taking advantage of Australia's goodwill at the expense of Australians in general. I agree with you, there are many "bludgers" in the welfare system who have no intention of working, but governments are making it harder for these to carry on like they have in the past. Do not agree that 457 visa will be cut back as a result of some Australian employers illegally under paying. In fact Dept of Immigration has increased funding for more efficient 457 visa processing; source; http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/457-additional-funding.htm Regards my wife, what on earth are you saying? She should understand and accept being insulted by Australians as they generally fed up with brown skinned people, due to abuse of process by some refugees? She was spoken to by complete strangers who had zero knowledge of her and her circumstances. Would it be acceptable to you if a Thai approached you in the street and insulted you just because you are white skinned?

No wonder there is a cosy relationship between the Left and Capital these days. Disgusting rant. Australians I know have a much broader & sympathetic attitude to refugees especially given Howard's racist approach. Not many Australians that I know agree with the current illegal boat people policy. I'll correct that ...NO-ONE I know agrees with the policy. Sure a few high profile people get their opinions heard but the average bloke is sick and tired of the islamic invasion particularly when taken into to context of what has happened elsewhere. Sure it takes time to achieve the overall goal of creating an islamic state but it does happen. I read recently where one of the islamic leaders in the UK said they would control the UK by 2050. Immigrate, breed up courtesy of the taxpayer and wait for the critical mass to develop, then take over using the democratic system of majority rules. I remember as a kid in the 1960's a politician in the UK called Enoch Powell warned of what could happen when the Uk opened up to people from the Commonwealth countires. Yes, this poster is correct. But if you don't follow the politically correct line, your not given much press...your Depressed!..character assasinated and silenced. Communism is the highest form of Capitalism, an elitist system where a ruling elite of party faithful and a clique of lawyers live the good life, and everyone else is enslaved. Usury under Capitalism is no better, for they knew long ago that usury eventually enslaves nations and it's people. Ask anyone who has lived in Eastern Europe under the Jewish Bolshevik system. Western governments now do not consider quality of life or homogenity of their citizens. It is about the economic bottom line and trying to balance budgets. Politicians only know how to spend your money, and most of them are now lawyers.
