The Bangladeshi government has offered itself as Thailand's new medical ally, reasoning that the Kingdom is the 5th most popular healthcare destination for Bangladeshis.

Bangladeshi Ambassador to Thailand Shahed Akhtar had a meeting with the Chairman of the Thai Chamber had a meeting with the Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce regarding trade possibilities between the two countries. The ambassador urged Thai businessmen to invest in Bangladesh due to the variety of goods the country is capable of producing. Its goods range from agricultural and leather products to IT and electronic items.

The Bangladeshi ambassor also proposed that his country enter a medical alliance with Thailand. 30% of all Bangladeshi tourists to Thailand come to the Kingdom via chartered flights to receive medical treatments and check-ups. This popularity is a result of Thailand's high standard of healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, which differs from that of Bangladesh as the medicines there are affected by low-cost production.
