  • In my 34 years, this is the finest speech I’ve heard from a Thai politician.   It appears this is less a political clash and more a feud between the Shinawatra and Hun Sen families. Thaksin

Dont forget what kind of people running Cambodia. Former Khmer Rouge people. The worst murderous scum ever! Even worse that IS!!! ☠☠

  • We have a Thai Winston Churchill.  Great speech, and in English for the global audience too.

It appears this is less a political clash and more a feud between the Shinawatra and Hun Sen families. Thaksin must have truly ruffled Samdech’s feathers—otherwise, we wouldn’t be seeing this level of drama.

And this is coming from the son (or is it the grandson) of one of the most pathetic prime ministers Thailand has ever had, and they have had a lot of total failures over the decades.

It's indeed a good speech. However it's open who started these attacks.

And since we know that Thaksin's daughter is married to Hun Sen's son, there might be some family matters, which fueled the atrocities.

And soldiers fight a proxy war?

We all hope that there will be peace soon, maybe with some pressure by POTUS?  ( pending tariff negotiations)

Get you facts right before posting     No, Thaksin Shinawatra's daughter is not married to Hun Sen's son. Thaksin's daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, is married to Pitch Pongsawat

Great speech but the reality is Cambodia has been preparing for this for months with infrastructure and military assets, including mines being moved into place on the border. HS double crossed the Shinawatras causing a power shift on the Thai side and massive loss of face. Now in the short term HS will pay dearly with lost revenue from scam centres, casinos, human trafficking, timber, wildlife, drugs, and other illegal cross border business run from the Cambodia side, and lost military positions and lives of many RCAF on the border. In the long term HS wins more loyalty for his son shoring up the family position as Cambodia rulers.

I wonder about the unease of expats who decided a cheaper and freer Cambodia was a better choice for retirement.

Also, those who have boasted about high bank interest there and commited their savings,  may have reason to be concerned.

The Winston Churchill style speech reflects his obvious British upbringing. Passionate for sure.

I was not there for enquiry unfortunately

I don’t know this politician but why isn’t he Prime Minister, he’s the most straight talking politician I’ve seen give a speech here !

I didn't know Khmer Rouge wasn't tranlated in English.

In France, some critics sometimes refer to green political parties as "Green Khmers" ("Khmer verts"), a controversial nickname comparing them to the Khmer Rouge due to their perceived authoritarianism. Haha

He has a British accent?

It is a speech made only for English speaking countries. This is deliberate.

Wife says he studied in London and got his degree there

Is this the place for "Shadenfreude" ?

Very articulate like former foreign minister Surin Pitsuwan...

Anyway who is this guy...

In the international perspective Thailand is winning big.  Cambodia has a slightly chubby female military officer raising her finger and looking somewhat outraged.  Clear, articualte and a calm spokeman will convery the message to a wider audience.  Obviously this speech is not intended for the domestic audience. Overall well done.

We’ll likely never know who fired the first shot.

What we do know is that Cambodia has been indiscriminately launching missiles at civilian areas, resulting in the deaths of non-combatants.

My Thai wife who follows domestic politics closely was unaware of this speech.

Perfect English with no accent. Good to hear.

He’s the son of Banharn Silpa Archa, former PM of Thailand in the 90s.
The son was educated in the UK. Great narrator.
