Applying For Tourist Visa In Border Countires.

Featured Replies

Hello

Im currently on a 30 stamp in Thailand.

I would like to get a single entry visa (or double if possible).

After reading through the threads here. Consensus seems to be Laos and Cambodia are prefered locations? I would like to get this completed as fast as possible. Should I use a visa agent and which would you reccomend.

Thanks

Laos only and most people use Vientiane and do not use any visa agents (although they might use someone at location to speed things up).

Alright. So I,ll assume I get a visa on arrival in Vientiane. (US passport) And it should take about 1 day, If done in person at the consulate?

Savannaket is another good option, the sponsor on the right side of the page offers a visa service

You apply for the visa in the mourning, then you come back the next afternoon to pick Your passport up, You don't need an agent it is too simple and You save money, Your lao visa will cost you $35 US or 1500 baht, way cheaper to have US, there are several hotels close to the consulate, and the lao restruant across from the consulate has very good food and cold beer lao.

Savannakhet if you are closer too is even easyer

Thanks Denny!

Do you know how much the Thai Visa will cost, per entey?

Thai tourist visa is 1,000 baht so 2,000 for two entry. Believe the Consulate uses Baht.

Ok, after doing a lil more reading, savannakhet will be my choice for the visa. Im thinking of taking a bus in from bangkok (mo chit) to mukdahan.

Unless anyone else has other suggestions??

Nok Air provides a fly and ride service, which drops you off at the bridge at 9:30am. I might try that out, but stay an extra day just incase something goes wrong lol.
