Dvd's To External Hard Drive

Ive tried handbrake but cant seem to download their software. Does anyone have an idiot guide or alternative website they use for downloading DVD collection to external HD ???

I would definitely be ripping images, and kinda working from there. There are obviously different thoughts on this however. But if you are going to be tossing the dvd's, the short version is images are the way to go, no two ways about it.

I have been using Ashampoo for years, which is free and very good. Recently I got nero. Can't say it's much better for me, but it is real good as well, yet not "free".

Ive used freemake to rip dvd's (as well as coveting to other file extensions) works pretty good considering the price.
