Lady with odd illness: a leg weighing almost 100 kilos; is being assisted after reports of her case have been released

Streams of assistance have flown in for a lady with an odd illness, who has had to live with a right leg weighing about 90 kilograms for three decades. The medical assistance arrived after her story has dispersed throughout the media.

50-year-old Jae Tumju (แจ้ ตุ้มจู), a Nonthaburi resident, had to endure the burden of her enlarged right leg for 30 years after the condition developed after an operation to remove cervical cancer. She still carried on working to earn income for her family after her husband left, and has lately been selling coffee.

After the news got out, many agencies and individuals expressed their desire to assist the woman. Mr. Phongsak Atchariyaprasit (พงษ์ศักดิ์ อัจฉริยะประสิทธิ์), the Mayor of Plaibang (ปลายบาง) Subdistrict Municipality had presented Mrs. Jae with 30,000 baht to help her with her debt burdens and at the same time officials from Bangkruay (บางกรวย) hospital have paid her visit, and is working to forward her to Siriraj Hospital for treatment.

Nonthaburi Governor Phranai Suwannarat (พระนาย สุวรรณรัฐ) has personally granted 10,000 baht of assistance money to the lady and has ordered related agencies in the province to rapidly assist her.

Was there a picture of the woman on the front page of the newspapers last week (?Thursday). Maybe she has lymphodema following her surgery. I know that it is common in the arms of women (and potentially men) who have had mastectomies. Poor old girl. At least now she is getting help though.

sound like the lymph glands in the groin were removed during surgery for cervical cancer , elephantiasis causes the same problems.

although cervical cancer at age 20 doesnt sound right.

hope she can be sorted out.
