2 Day Overstay, 7 Day Extension, But Red Stamp?

Featured Replies

Hi all, so I mistakenly overstayed my 30 day airport entry.

Went to get a 7 day extension so I'd have time to make a run to Vientiane and get a proper visa.

But when I got my passport back, it says:

"Application for extension of stay is not approved. Applicant must leave the kingdom not later than (date)"

The date is 7 days later. But it is printed in red ink. The rest of the stamp is blue, but the date is in red.

Will I have trouble getting a visa in Vientiane now? This isn't the dreaded "red stamp" I've heard mentioned on here is it?

That is quite normal for a 7 day extension, you have nothing to worry about.

They all say that.

There's no 7 day extension contrary to popular belief.

What you get is "extension not approved" and you have 7 days to leave the kingdom.

Everything is in order and you will not have any problems.

Whew! Thanks. smile.png

As said, there is no such thing as a 7 day extension.

Your application was refused.

7 days to get out of town.

The red ink is to get your attention. They often stamp the date in red for permit to stay and etc.
