fearless1
I had rotator cuff surgery with Dr. Prasit but it was done at Sriphat Medical Center. I was under the assumption that Dr. Prasit specializes in Shoulder issues but he probably is a specialist in many orthopedic arthroscopic procedures. He was recommended to me and he did a great job on my shoulder and I felt very comfortable with him. Maybe you can have the surgery done at Sriphat. The facilities seemed to be just as good as Ram, and the cost would be much lower. The main concern is the surgeon, not the facility.
tango
^ Exactly. Many Thai medical specialists rotate throughout the city. Try Klaimoor near Tesco on main Hwy to HDong just S of Airport Plaza, to see if your favorite surgeon practices there. Great rooms (walk thru to see), reasonable prices. uptheos
Dr Chanakarn Phornphutkul Orthopaedic Surgeon (specializes in sports injuries) Rajavej Hospital, 053 801999 and 053 204545 Orthodpedic clinic opposite the hospital on the other side of the river Mon - Fri 1700-1900 and Sat 0900-1200 His clinic is by far the best place to see him as he only goes to Rajavej on Fridays at 4pm, IF he's in the country and IF he's not busy somewhere else. This person is a reputable sports injury surgeon and one of only two surgeons in Chiang Mai that can do arthroscopy on the knee. I forget who the other one is. anselpixel
Maybe I missed something, but when I priced my recent hip replacement, Rajavez was by far the least expensive, least crowded, and cleanest. No significant price difference between Ram and Sripat. Check around is my advice, unless you're already locked into something. There are many excellent physicians and medical facilities in Chiang Mai

There are many excellent physicians and medical facilities in Chiang Mai Dr Chanakarn Phornphutkul Orthopaedic Surgeon (specializes in sports injuries) Check the doctors doing the surgery. Dr Chanakarn Phornphutkul Orthopaedic worked four years at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. a very prestigious institution. Not so sure I would trust the other one there I have had one bad experience with him in diagnosing. Don't want to have the same experiance if I was on the surgical table. Maybe there's some slight difference, but it's around the same mark.......maybe you want lots of pretty nurses and a suite. Or maybe you just look a little wealthier. tango
#9 I can empathize, Jarhead. My right rugby/Armour knee is acting up after years of crawling up and off armored tanks. As you said you'd keep us informed, I will be awaiting your observations.
