January 25, 201313 yr thanks for some helpful advise guys. as for those that are negative, i will not ignore neither, however, tell me what i have to lose if things with her dont work out? except maybe few months time? and i can easily get back a job in Singapore with my experience. Marry is not under my consideration as long as there is alternative. i need to know more of her before that stage. im thinking of applying 1 year student visa, working illegaly in thailand teaching english while i focus more time on my business.any school to recommend? and what you guys think of this idea? thanks to all anyway~ im glad for the advice whether positive or negative. my only concern is, not to be dependfent on her. The smart play is to make her come to you, so it is just the two of you learning about each other without the influence of her family or culture. As an aside, Thai people need to get out of the country to really understand the world a bit better. Furthermore, you are letting her set the tone, while you have the bill...Women like strong men, and all relationships are negotiated agreements! On the off chance this isn't a troll, I would suggest you get an Ed visa and learn to speak the language so you can at least say tantalizing things to each other when you get down to business. Also, let her pay for the school, etc. so you know she really loves you. After all TIT..
January 26, 201313 yr Popular Post i am in Singapore working i be in Bangkok at March. As i said, my mind is clear, nothing to feel sad for me. i have plans in mind what to do and what i want to achieve. definetely better than 3k salary per month struggling in SG. and i have plans to retire in Thailand if my business succeed. to me, nothing is good about living Singaporean other than the title, "Singaporean", struggling 25 years debt to pay off a 3 room flat 92sqm. thats not i want in life. i just need a stepping stone for the start few months so i looking for advice from you guys. For sure i wont starve or suffer even i dont have job but i do not want to be incomeless for few months, i wanna know more channel to earn keep in Bangkok with my current capability. You are young enough and sound like you have a plan and can still take risks. So my advice is to go for it. Why not? I have lived in Singapore (6 years), the US (over 20 years), Indonesia(7 years), and now Thailand (7 years)... Always keeping my eyes open for opportunity to grow and make money - no regrets and been quite successful. Now somewhat retired.. Our son will be graduating end of this year and hopefully get a job :-), I am ready for another exciting adventure.... Florida here I come :-) Good luck!!
January 26, 201313 yr Since you have already taken the first step i.e. resigned from job, I suggest you set foot in Thailand for three months to experience life here and difficulties encountered. You can do this by applying for a three months tourist visa from the Thai Embassy in Singapore. Use this three months to enjoy yourself as much as possible, and at the same time, to make an assessment whether this is for you. After three months, you can still go back to Singapore to look for another job if things don't turn up well here. You are only 28, I am sure you can easily find a job back home. With this option, you cannot work in Thailand, legally. It is very difficult or near to impossible to get a job here in Thailand while you are in Singapore. You need to be here to find opportunities, and be seen and heard by people here. As for the Ed visa option, please don't forget about the fees, it may cost you at least 20,000 baht and above to enroll into a course which will be eligible for a one-year Ed visa. My recommendation is to forget about the teaching job unless you can speak English fluently and not with a Singaporean accent. Furthermore, with a Diploma, I don't think you are qualify for teaching English in Thailand. Event if you do, you need to take up an English teaching costs and this again, will cost you money. To run a business in Thailand, you need to first set up a Company and use it to apply for a work permit for yourself and then using the work permit to apply for extension of visa to stay in Thailand for a year. This option, though the best way to stay and work legally in Thailand, does not come cheap. It will cost you close to 100,000 baht in total to get everything in order. Think about it and decide on what you want. The good thing about you is that you are still young, if everything fails, you can go back to Singapore to start all over again. Please make sure you don't embark into anything illegal here in Thailand. Otherwise, even if you return to Singapore, life will be much tougher for you then before. PS: based on my posting, do I qualify for a teaching job in Thailand?
