UK style curry Rice pudding Some salad she had on a KLM flight but couldn't find in the shops. Pepsi, now no longer available where she is. Peperami Roast chicken that has sat unrefrigerated in my room for 3 days. Couldn't get her to eat cauliflower. Says there is no way to wash the bugs out of it. And won't eat naan bread if it has burnt bits on it.. cancer...

carlspencer
How is Mc Donald's & Co not being discussed here, if we are talking stats then what these guys offer beats everything else hollow.
Spoonman
My list would be almost exactly the same as yours krisb. My missus also go nuts over shortbread, iced buns and ravioli. Yes in fact any sweet bread with fruit inside from the bakery wifey loves but strangely not so much the chocolate donuts etc. On the bakery thing theres also the potato/steak pie. Shes discovered em and doesnt mind em.Heres 1 that a few of us have discovered Thai girls love and thats the humble Aussie bbq snag with bread and sauce. My wifes def not the only 1 to love these things. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm I'd damn near kill for an aussie snag as iam getting sick of these cumberland things that only seem to be sold around here. My missus also loves mashed potato and also roast lamb.

Razzler1973
I think KFC is an obvious one as Thais are well into fried chicken anyway If I grew up in Thailand I am not sure I could justify the ridiculous price of fast food like McDonalds or Burger King (140, 150?) to eating Thai street food
Turkleton
If you want a decent (farang size) portion of Thai street food, (e.g. nodel soup = 'kotiau' or 'kao pad') your are in the price range of 50-60 Baht. That's without any extras, like a big coke or so. So not very far away from a MCD menu for 99-129 Baht. Even Thai street food is imho overpriced, compared to our European canned soups or ready to eat meals. A 800 ml can of (e.g.)Chili with meat or pea soup with sausages, is available for the aquivalent of ~30-40 Baht in Germany. Apart from the hygienic conditions of many Thai street food vendors. My wife likes german style pea soup (with Chili and small sausages), so I have to cook ~ 4-5 Liter/month. Edited May 5, 2013 by Turkleton
lvdkeyes
I'm a bit surprised that dishes with beef or cheese made the list. I thought the majority of Thais shunned beef and cheese. Interesting. Most Thais I know love steak; a couple don't eat beef at all.
rsokolowski
Hamburgers. Freshly ground beef and some pork cooked over charcoal with tomatoes, sliced onions, ketchup and mustard. I could not cook them fast enough for the in laws and children. Spaghetti was also a big hit.

bangkokburning
I'm a bit surprised that dishes with beef or cheese made the list. I thought the majority of Thais shunned beef and cheese. Interesting. My wife LOVES cheese. Spinich with cheese a favorite (usually a "cheesy" sort of sauce here). Closest thing I can find in.US was Stouffers Spinich and white stuff on the top. Wife seems to like almost any sort of quality cooking. Anything out of a can (camping) more dicey prospect.
