Not exactly the leading economy in Europe .................. and well, er, not exactly the leaders in anything. Really? And you've been there? Beer. Diamonds. Chocolate. Tintin. Food (best food in Europe - oh, and French Fries originate there). Club Med was founded there. Not exactly the leading economy in Europe? You're quite right . . . that could be because it is a small country with a small population . . . I guess we'll just have to only accept German links to anything to do with the economy because it is the biggest economy. Prestbury Park . . . show me one nation that hasn't had its share of trouble . . . Belgium is the least of anyone's worries. I must admit to having a bit of a soft spot for the place . . . living and working in Holland for a few years, if I wasn't traveling for work I'd get in my car and get out to a place with excellent food, fantastic beers, very nice people and beautiful architecture in the towns and villages, lovely forests etc.... Furthermore, a myriad of business types would be off limits to them in accordance with Thai law, "a fact the recent pre-move visit of our crown prince together with a sizeable delegation appears to have missed". The ambassador also admitted that another hurdle might be current legislature regarding land ownership. "But I think we will be able to comfortably cope with that," he opined. "After all, Belgium has been basically owned by everyone else except us Belgians for the past couple of hundred years, so we've become accustomed to that sort of situation." He also remained hopeful that the planned population move will commence without any other major hitch. When I think about it I did have some 'issues' with our Belgian distributors (I worked IT in EMEA for a US company) . . . because their market is relatively small they grey-exported a lot of our stuff . . . but they did help in that they sold into places where it wasn't worth it for us to spend a lot of money setting things up. Dutch? Nah, not so much. People- and food/beerwise. I'd take the Belgians any day (I have yet to find a place outside of Belgium to serve a good waterzooi!) Have you tried Federbrau? Probably the best local beer brewed in Thailand IMHO, your tastes may vary. Chang Export is reasonable, as is Chang Draught. A lot better than the "foreign" cr@p beers marketed worldwide brewed in Thailand. Chang Classic is best avoided IMHO. Better start looking for a 51% partner. Not true at all. A Chinese company will mostly likely be involved with the construction of the high-speed rail link. If you are talking about the Farangs on Thai Visa who whine and gripe on a daily basis about how bad their existence in Thailand is, I agree.
