From the title of the thread I though you were referring to the plastic trash in the Pacific; 'Garbage Island' which is twice the area of Texas - I've often wondered whether it would ever be commercially viable to collect and recycle and thought you might have found a solution.

The video, though, it very impressive, that guy is very skilled and talented to make the island and be self-sufficient. I hope he invited the press if/when he decides to float away. He might want to consider the soupy-plastic-mess in the Pacific - plastic doesn't biodegrade but it does photodegrade so his 'country' won't last forever. I think the new flimsy bottle from Coca-cola's Namthip drinking water that uses 35% less plastic is a better solution to the plastic bottle problem, but the guy's island is a cool idea.

Love the story and the endeavour of this guy - seems he left his wife and kids though if some of the comments are to be beleived.
