A Month In Vientiane, Anyone Know Of A Good Guest House?

Featured Replies

I'm spending April near the University there. (I think there is only one uni.) Anyway, I need a place for a month, and the 650 to 1100 baht a night places are more than I want to spend. I'm frugal, no not cheap, frugal. biggrin.png Does anyone know of a place to stay. WIFI would be nice, a kitchenette would be nice. Close to a bit of the night life would be nice. Thanks!!

Once you get in Laos just ask around but you are highly unlikely to be able to find a place to rent for just a month. Most places want 6 months up front. Just stay in a guesthouse for the month. Sorry, I don't know any near the University but there are a few around there.

You might be lucky if you ask around the local area plus it's a good excuse to chat to the University students thumbsup.gif

There is obviously loads of different student accommodation in the area ranging from very cheap to mid-range bungalow type places.

Forget about having wifi. Buy an aircard/dongle.

BTW the area around the Uni is called Don Dok and it's 10 km out of town.

10km out of town ? Forget that - you are much better off getting something within staggering distance of Bor Bpen Nyang and enjoying yourself. I swear I can still remember how my mouth tasted after a night of Beer Lao 'tallies' : just beware of the morning after ;)

Beerlao is available near the University also thumbsup.gif

Bor Bpen Nyang bar is ok for a night I suppose-if you want to meet visa runners and the odd expat. But I wouldn't base myself somewhere just because of 1 bar.

There are some good bars near the Uni as one might expect and some good restaurants there also.
