Because he was making and selling his own ya-ice, police said Mr. Philes sold the drug at a much cheaper price to his customers than the street market value, because he was eliminating the suppliers and lower-level dealers who want a big cut of the profits.

So now we have the reason for arrest. Unfair competition. bah.gif

Lower Sukhumvit is a haven of pornographers, pimps, prostitutes, peddlars of drugs et. al. with a dildo seller every fifty metres.

And all do a roaring trade with Farangs that travel 1000's of KM's to Thailand to exploit the situation

Sounds like basically he pissed of the other dealers and people with their fingers in the pie because they lost money. No surprises!

Obviously breaking the restricted industries law, by operating in a market in which the Thai's are apparently not ready to compete.

It astonds me sometimes how badly pooyais can put their foot in it. Why on earth explain that part of the reason to arrest him was that he was selling at below market price. Are the insinuating that by doing so he was making it more widely available, and that if the price is kept higher this is ok?

That's not the reason he was arrested. It's just background information.

Are you inferring they don't have a roaring trade with the Thais who also exploit the situation? Edited by Pimay1

Why even say it then? Since the policeman is so knowledgeable about the middlemen pricing, i await a raft of more arrests.

"When he brought the ya-ice and heroin to the uncercover agent at Soi Nana, he was arrested by police. The police then went to search his house in Plathong village, Amphur Bangphlee, Samut Prakan province. Mr. Philes had been staying at the house more than a year and paying rent of 12,000 THB per month."

Only 12,000 a month? What a cheap Charley he is. (was) Wouldn't a halfway intelligent dealer have the gear somewhere else? Not at the place where he was living. I'd call it stupidity and my tax money will have to be used to feed this guy now......laugh.png

Lock the scumbag up and throw away the key but doubt that will happen

he will pay the cops off and then do it the correct way giving the cops a cut.

Wow, these Thais!! They put together a powerful entrapment sting to nail this petty thief and his massive amount of illicit drugs. That's what I cll police work. Other nations should take not of the Thai model where a Mr. Big need not ever worry, the petty thief will flip and give up names, but the thief will be hauled off to Remand never to speak out again about his payoffs to operate for over a year.

If African looking people are hanging around street corners for years on end its really not hard to work out what they are doing

yes but in Europe, the police must first check 2 white one hanging around on street corners, before they can check the black one.

Else the police would get punished for being racist. (no joke there is already a law that police checks based on race profiling is illegal. So the police stays at some places sees the black dealer and can't do anything)

Ah. So, you approve of racial profiling ?

What other racist policies do you approve of ?

I am really sickened that this type of threads provides the racists among the forum users to express their bigotry openly.

If a white guy is arrested for drug dealing, there are some bigoted comments, but very few. However, if a black guy gets arrested for it, there are maybe at least five times more of those bigoted comments.

I like this forum in general but the high no. of bigots really turns me off at times.

Surely, condemn drug dealing (I condemn it too) but for phuck's sake, leave your racism out of here !

Well these Nigerian tourists hanging around street corners arent exactly helping little old ladies across the road now are they?

a few days ago one of my staff had to make a pee test while eating lunch.....if he would have been black it would have been very racist, or. Luckily he was just usual Thai so the police was political correct.

Couldn't he finish his lunch first?

Pull up a chair, it could be a long wait.

Amazing how many of you guys are saying "kill him" or lock him away for life! How short-sighted. The only people that he sells to are people that choose themselves to buy the drugs! Whether you agree or disagree with drug use/selling why would you think the correct punishment is life imprisonment or death?

The biggest mistake he made was !!

Paying the right police officers !!!!!!!!

It is 100% sure that big police are involved in drug trade in that area, how else can normal people see one after another who sell drugs ?

Are the Bangkok police blind ??

Or just been blindfolded by money !!!!!

CORRUPTION CORRUPTION

Do you mean NOT "Paying the right police officers !!!!!!!!?

I find it odd that the newspaer emphasizes the term "African" as opposed to stating Mozambique national.

The don't use a general term when refering to other foreigners arrested for serious offenses do they?

Ok, so an African was arrested. A day doesn't go by when a Thai is not arrested for dealing and yet the newspaper doesn't report on all the Thai nationals nicked.

Forgive me, but I see an undercurrent of racist tone in this report. If the newspaper is of the view that "Africans" present a problem, then it should come out and say that.

Too many people buying into the war on drugs nonsense.

Thailand has some of the harshest penalties for drug dealing/taking on the planet yet its rife.

i always wonder, when at immigration of these delightfull people meet the criteria to stay in the country and on what visa ?

Simple fact is that a large proportion of people from a certain part of the world frequent a certain part of lower Sukhumvit to ply their illicit trade of dealing in drugs, pandering prostitutes or other illegal activities, therefore it is a truthful observation that their nationality or origin is included in discussion to highlight the ever worsening situation. However, all drug dealers no matter whether they are white, red, black or yellow, or just slightly tanned or are using skin whitening creams - are scum by definition. The people who cover for them through bribes, ignorance, turning a blind eye, don't want to get involved are merely helping them to destroy our society, although in that particular part of town not much help is needed, its pretty much the last place any respectable person would want to be seen.

Yes, but most who deal in the stuff brains are a sandwich short of a picnic. sad.png

I imagine people would be a bit wary of a white drug dealer, thus they wouldnt be too successful. It seems people are much more comfortable buying off the Africans that hang around Sukhumvit.

I'm definately not a racist! However, fact is there are many streetcorner dealers from Africa around. These scumbags come here on Business Visa while honest retirees have to deal with a lot of crap for living here spending theit hard earned money. Who do they have to bribe for not dealing drugs?

What's he got to lose? Thai prison or life in Lagos (assuming he is Nigerian that is). As long as Thai prison is one step above street life in Africa, these guys will just keep coming.
