Semper
Wouldn't surprise me, they love to close the roads in CM. Seriously, you should ask in CM forum.
rene123
Wouldn't surprise me, they love to close the roads in CM. . You mean there are OPEN roads in Chiang Mai? I couldn't find any. They all seem plugged with parked tour busses from China.

Have we hit a warp in the space time continuum and been transported out of the Chiang Mai forum?
anselpixel
I'm told there's a lot of activity planned for the Worarot Market area Sunday.
hellodolly
I'm told there's a lot of activity planned for the Worarot Market area Sunday. I spent some time there last year like a giant out door food court in the morning. Was given some free food by a shop in the night bazaar run by a Chinese family. anselpixel
Same thing in Bangkok Chinatown last year. I spent three days, and it was all non-stop street vending. The only real celebration I've seen in three years was in KL Chinatown. They really put on a show.
elektrified
Same thing in Bangkok Chinatown last year. I spent three days, and it was all non-stop street vending. The only real celebration I've seen in three years was in KL Chinatown. They really put on a show. C.M. CNY Festival is for old ladies and tourists. Nothing to see. People selling food. What else is new? Haven't had the pleasure of seeing CNY in KL but did spend one CNY in Hat Yai and I really enjoyed that. I love the bearded monks painted in white running into businesses carrying the Buddha. They are very intense and animated (and quick). The drums and other music being played in the streets starts at the crack of dawn and goes on for days. Really quite interesting. Food is NOT the focus of the Festival as it is here. Eating is done in Chinese restaurants at night and tables are booked a year in advance.
rene123
Well there are no lack of places to eat in Chiang Mai. But, if you like to people watch like I do then the Chinese market at Worowat should be good tomorrow.
Mapguy
What's with all the blah, blah blah above. OP had a simple question. The parade starts tomorrow morning. Advertised for 9AM onward. Go to the market. Another thread on this already. Sheeeeesh!!!
