See them all the time at the Thai fairs , but the mrs says bingo is illegal in Thailand .

Surely it doesn't fall under "gambling" does it ?

Bingo is considered as a form of Gambling, but it is categorized as Class B (Khor Khai) item number 15.

It is mentioned in the 2nd Paragraph of Section 4 of the Gambling Act B.E.2478 that similar kinds of acts could be carried out only with written permission from either the Minister or a related official, but if without written permission, there must be a regulation that could waive the requirement for the written permission.

And in the 4th Paragraph of Section 4 of the Gambling Act B.E.2478 it stipulates that if prizes can be won for item 5 to item 15 of Class “B” Type of gambling, that the prize given out should not be an item that could be given a value (in terms of money wise). Once given, the organizer must not accept the prize back or offer an exchange money for the prize given out.
