A friend went to his bank in Chiang Mai (Bangkok bank) to get his letter ready for his appointment on Wednesday and was told by his bank that they no longer issue the letters locally and have to be issued from Bangkok and it takes 7 days?

Was that the branch where his account was opened?

I think somebody was giving him a run around because they did know what to do.

It would make sense to me if he did not open the account at that CM branch. If he did open the account at that CM branch, yes, try harder. So far it's hard to know what's going on there. If he opened the account there and even a higher manager can't do the letter, maybe they're incompetent.

Ask to speak to the manager.

It would appear it is correct, for some sub branches only.

He has used the same bank for 9 years so likely to be changing to another branch/bank.
