Popular Post Goompa
Another photo of this Majestic tree , I was reminded that the Thai people actually eat the seeds from the pods when the pods are young and green. My Thai daughter surprised me when she came to live in Australia when I happened to witness her smashing open the pods and feasting on the bean-like morsels inside , Tasted a little bland to me , but with some sticky rice and nam-prik who cares ?

Popular Post samuijimmy
^ that's certainly an interesting tree with fruit, Ace.... not seen that b4!..... Sadly Coconuts, in one area of Samui's SW area, seems to be under attack with the red beetle.... Most of Samui's coconuts seem to be under control with this pest.... At least there are Pheromone traps dotted about.. the area, so they should catch it, before too much more damage... Damage done...on these....

(seen in Nathon Samui) Never seen this flower b4, quite nice .... my neighbour kid says it has a fruit about size of a grapefruit (using his hands) .... any ideas ? I have seen it but didn't know the name so i asked a collegue and he said it was probably Tabebuia imperiginosa or trumpet tree from the Bignoniaceae family . It is native to central america and are often deciduous when flowering like jacaranda . He also said the Thai name is Sumpoo ban tip but that spelling could be wrong. I have learnt a new and useful landscape tree today.

samuijimmy
Thanks guys ^ will try to keep that name ... within the ever fading grey matter! It's interesting in the area where I took that in Nathon Samui, there are many plants, one does not see else where on Samui....local nurseries never seem to carry them .... ... I guess residents have brought them in from the mainland.... in days gone by! Another tree DAL and I saw yesterday on our walk about.... well hung fruit ....
