thetefldon
I spotted several of the birds (shown in photo) working a field that looks similar oil seed rape( secondary crop on rice paddy). They were clearly gathering insects then flying to a nearby corn field to consume their catch. The light was poor and the birds were some distance away so the photograph is rubbish although the colours are about right. The backs of the birds when flyng were brown. About the size of a Drongo with a similar length tail. I fancy they might be some type of Cuckoo Shrike. Photo taken North of Phetchabun. Anyone help? isanbirder
Plaintive Cuckoo. They feed on insects. It's quite common to see them on rice land, reeds, grass etc. Often a small group feeding together.
thetefldon
Great. Many thanks. Did consider Plaintive Cuckoo but thought they might be more solitary. Photo is heavily cropped taken at 500mm in really poor light. Handheld to boot. Once again thanks for ID.
