My Thai wife has a Thai passport ,and will soon be going to the Thai passport office to get her surname updated to her now married name .

She has a 10 year old daughter by a Thai man living with us .My question is can she have her daughter put on her passport or must the daughter have her own seperate pasport ?.

Normal procedure is for everyone to have passports - even babies have them these days as without in emergency they could not travel without other party.

Individual passports only.

OK looks like she will need a seperate passport .Anyone know the documents required ? I know birth cert for sure .Does she need permission from the Thai father to get a Thai passport or does he have to be involved at all ?

Teh father of the child neds to sign the paspsort application also.

Was the mother married to the father? If not, the mother probably has sole custody and will need a khor rhor 13 fom from the amphur. This confirms that she has sole custody and does not need permission from the father and is required for a passport if both parents do not sign the form.

If she was married, she cannot get a paspsort without the father's concent.

Thanks for the information .No she was not married to him .She lived with him in Chai-nat ( near Nakhon Sawan ) .Now we live togeather in Chiang Mai .Which Amphur should she go to for the Khor 13 ? please .

Sorry, I just checked and it should be the Por khor 14 form. But yes, if she can get that form she will get a passport for the child without any problems.

Thai passport applications are extremly well organised, applying takes about 30 minutes. For 35 baht the paspsort is send to the home addres a few days later.
