Retirement Visa [Family]

Featured Replies

I will soon be applying for a retirement visa.....I know all the requirements for me but my wife is 30 yrs old and my son is 2yrs old.....both are U.S. citizens.....what do I have to do for them to stay with me, as far as visas go?

They obtain non immigrant O visas as your dependents and when in Thailand extend to match your extensions of stay as your dependents under section 2.20 of police order 777/2551 (child up to 20 years of age only).

Your wife and child are US citizens. Is your wife Thai?

You will not want to go the OA visa route for your retirement. Your wife and child most likely will not be able to get the extensions of stay if you get one.

Best to contact one of the honorary consulates in the US and get a single entry non-o visas for yourself, wife and child. And then get your extension of stay done here and on the same day get your family's also.

List of honorary consulates here: http://thaiembdc.us/wordpress1/

Portland has been reported as being very helpfull.
