Non Imm O Visa, Multiple Entry, Can I Renew In Asia?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, new to this so need some help/advice. For the last 4 years I have travelled on a 1 year non imm O visa, multiple entry. Usually due to work I leave Thailand anyway before the 90 day stint finishes, on the odd occasion I have travelled to SQ for a new stamp.

I have always obtained this visa from Hull / Liverpool consulates in UK however I want to know can I obtain the visa in Singapore or elsewhere instead of going back to the UK?.

KL (100,000 bht in Thai bank) or Savannakhet/Lao are close by. smile.png

Unless you are Married to a Thai you wont get one in Asia.

The rules for obtaining in UK are much more difficult now.

On what grounds did you apply?

Thanks for your quick response, I have been married to thai for 4 years and we have 3 year old son who has both UK and Thai passports.

do you have the cash to use the 400,000baht in the bank or 40,000 per month income way, then you would not have to leave Thailand to renew.

In the area the best location is Savannakhet in Laos where no financials are asked or KL in Malaysia where 100k in bank account is normal requirement. Other Consulate may not issue or require the full 400k in bank account that allows one year extension of stay within Thailand. As said if you have 400k in bank account 2 months in your name or income of 40k per month that would be your best option if living here full time.

As said. KL or Savanakhet will issue.

You can get a 12 month extension from Immigration if you meet the financial requirements

Thanks again everyone, I have the money in an SQ account but do not have a Thai account as I cannot open a bank account. Is it possible to open one if I don't have a work permit or residency visa?

Yes, you can open a bankaccount in Thailand. often banks will tell you no, but than just go to another bank (of the same branch even) till one says yes, you can.

It might help if you take a Thai person with you to vouch for you and make it clear you want to deposit a large amount.

Take your wife to the bank with you. With her ID and house book she can act as a reference for you to open a bank account.

You do not need work permit to open bank account. I have Bangkok bank, K-bank, & S.C.B. without work permit or Thai wife. Account can only have your name on it. My renewal is coming up and I have never renewed before.
