Popular Post Nautilus05
Just in case anyone is interested, just recently cleared up a 3+ year overstay at the Nong Khai border, and got a new double entry VISA in Vientiene without issue. Total trip from leaving my house to getting back was 39 hours. Paying the overstay was no problem at all, and in and out of the overstay office within 5 mins. He asked why I overstayed so long, to which I just said "no excuse" and apologized. I made sure to dress quite well, be respectful, speak in Thai, and I also gave 21k for the fine instead of the 20k. Then off to the Thai embassy, and other than a long wait, was no problems at all. Was only at the window for maybe 30 seconds, came back the next day to pickup the VISA, then onto a bus back across the border and back home. No problems with any three parts, and now have a brand new double entry in my passport. So if you've overstayed and want to get it cleared up (highly recommended), it's apparently still no problem at all.
