Hi there,

I've just booked a flight to Bangkok via Manchester for a 4 month stay.

Now visa wise I was going to apply for a Multiple Entry and do a run month 3.

Now visas require 7 days (I leave Thurs) to come so the Liverpool Consulate phone machine says, but the Hull one allows you to go in and get it done there and then for an extra £10. Now I don't understand are all these consulates independent from each other?

Anyway failing that, can I get this in time can I apply for this visa within Thailand whilst on the usual 30 day stamp visa.

I know I should search but time is of the essence and I will contribute once I've got through this rather hectic period.

Thanks

Ash

No you can not obtain any visa inside Thailand and there is a good chance you will never board the aircraft to get here without a visa or scheduled/ticketed travel out of Thailand within 30 days of arrival. Get the visa now.

You cannot get a new visa in Thailand. No Thai visas are issued inside Thaialnd under any circumstances. You can extent a visa or in some circumstances change a visa type in Thailand but this is unlikely to be useful to you.

You have another problem. You are only eligable for the 30 day stamp if you have an airticket out of Thialand within 30 day. Whilst, bangkok immigration will not change, it is high likley that the airline will refuse to carry you on a four month return ticket if you do not have a valid visa.

Most of your problems will be on your own patch. Once you are in Thailand you could (as a last resort) do the daily visa run to Cambodia for a 30 day stamp. Likewise, despte the rules I have never known anyone to actually be checked for onward travel documents at Bangkok.

However, in Manchester they certainly WILL check, and will not accept any excuses. I strongly suggest you book a cheap ticket to a nearby country or go to Hull and get a visa on the spot. The Consulars in England all have diffferent standards of service, I find Hull to be quickest.

A trip to Hull it is.

Will the airline/manchester be ok with the Multiple entry visa or will I have to prove that I am leaving the country on month 3?

Cheers

Ash
