Sri Lankan Visitors Visa

Featured Replies

Hey all. First posting here, so be kind. :o

I am an American citizen, and my fiance is a Sri Lankan citizen. We are getting married in Sri Lanka in August, and will be going on our honeymoon in Thailand.

Now, according to my research, I (a US citizen) am eligible to simply get my passport stamped in the airport when I arrive in Bangkok and am then eligible to stay in Thailand for a 30-day visit. Since our honeymoon will be around 10 days, that is sufficient for me.

However, it seems that my wife-to-be doesn't have it quite so easy, as she is Sri Lankan. What process does she need to go through in order to get a visit visa that entitles her to be in the country for the entire duration of our honeymoon? I have looked around in this forum and done other searches, but have not found any relevant results. EDIT: I failed to mention that my fiance currently lives in the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi).

.....

On a side note, here are our honeymoon plans. Travel to Phuket via Bangkok and stay on Patong Beach. Then, head back to Bangkok for a few days and see the sites there. Any suggestions for what to see/do/etc... while in these places. I already have some ideas, but some from you Thailand veterans would be fantastic. The honeymoon dates will be mid to late August. How is the rainy season during that time? Will it pose serious problems?

Thanks!

Application and full information for visa is here

As she is living in the United Arab Emirates, she may be able to apply for a visa at the Royal Thai Embassy, Abu Dhabi.

Will her passport be valid after you marry? Might want to check on that and if name change is required as they could delay any travel.
