Thai Expat With Uk Passport Returning For A 7 Week Holiday

Featured Replies

I have a UK based Thai friend who has recently been issued a UK passport and was asking me what to do for a 7 week holiday back to Thailand.

They have a Thai ID card and an expired Thai passport, and a current UK passport.

Last year their Thai Passport was not expired, so entered and left Thailand with that, but now it is expired.

What would be best?

cheers

Get a new Thai Passport as he is entitled to it,... but being Thai he would know that right? now he is British so can be Dual Nationality end of.

Thanks for the reply, and I agree that would be the ideal solution but they will fly next Tuesday so no time to get the new Thai Passport from the Thai embassy

He can still enter Thailand on the expired thai passport, and when he is there he can get the thai passport renewed, and then can depart Thailand on the new passport.

AS Samran siad, he should enter on his expired Thai passport, with a nice apology for letting it expire. Once in get a new Thai passport and exit using it. Don't even show immigration the UK passport. If he enters on the UK passport they will only give him 30 days and he will have to leave on the UK passport.

"...when he is there he can get the thai passport renewed,..."

Is that assuming he's on a house registration here?

Terry

If he has a Thai ID card (as mentioned in OP) he is on a house book.
