Maximum Stay British National?

Featured Replies

Is there a maximum stay for a British National in Thailand? It has been suggested to me that 6 months is the maximum stay regardless of what may remain on your visa.

I entered Thailand 17th Sept with 3x60 day tourist visas, 2 visa runs and 1 extension later I am on my third and final 60 day visa that expires on April 5th.

I would like to extend this by 30 days at imigration on the 5th but it has been suggested that this is not possible as it is my 3rd visa and 6 months is my maximum stay.

Is this right?

Thanks in advance and for your previous helpful direction.

You will be able to extend for a further 30 days, suggest you go a few days before 5 April, you will not lose any time.

The confusion over '6 months' may be due to the fact that the visa would only have been valid for 6 months from the date of issue (the 'use by' date).

Since you obviously used your third entry before that date there is no problem extending, even if the 'use by ' date has now passed.

There is no limitation and you can extend as planned without any problems.

(there used to be a limitation to 6 months in 1 year for people on visa exempt entries, but that rule has been abolished. It never applied to tourist visas anyway.)

Many Thanks ;)

As long as you have the correct Visas/Extensions you can stay as long as you like. smile.png

I was going for the full 270 days this time but I'm going to miss out by 1 day, next time perhaps.

If the triple entry is valid for 6 months then it gives you a couple of days to play with (depending on which months) since 60+30+60+30 < 6 months. If this year was a leap year then I could have done it.

Don't forget the 6 months starts from the day you get the visa not the day of first entry

Indeed. If it was date of entry then getting 180 out of the 6 months would be a cinch (as shown below). Please note that the values are for the 6 months leading up to the expiration rather than how many days from any given month.

I obtained my triple entry last September (valid for 6 months) which means it expires in March (soon!).
