1 week ago I put 300 baht of LPG in the car and drove home about 5 KMs. There was 1 amber light on the LPG console when I locked and left the car. The guage on the tank in the boot read 25%.

Today the console showed the red light only and the guage on the tank had dropped from the 25% mark to near empty. There is some gas in the tank - I'd reckon I've lost maybe 200 Baht of gas in 1 week.

I'd had my suspicions of gas disappearing which is why I took note of the guage and the lights on the console when I left thye car last time.

There is no smell of gas in the boot, the engine compartment or in the car itself. The inlet valve was and is closed.

If this is a leak, it must be tiny or else all the gas would escape surely? And would there not be a smell of gas?

Would a decent LPG fitter have a gas sniffer to check the car with?

Any ideas, please?

A small leakage will not always lead to an explosion.

I had them myself [lpg leakages] in the past and I m still here.

But safest thing is not to drive it anymore and if you have to, wait a few days

and then use the petrol to go to a lokal LPG installer.

Most of them have the sniffer.

A small leakage you don t smell a big one you can.

Ah, thanks. I was wondering about the sniffer. I'll find a good local LPG installer and get off down there.

My take is that the solenoid is leaking slightly. It needs to go in for a check and maybe a new solenoid. Very small leaks will be hard to detect.

It can be anywhere they start most of the time with the sniffer at the fillingnossle/valve this is a potential leaker then the tank with al its

fittings then the fuelhose to the engine and last under the hood.

It can be done with some dishwasflued in water using a brush watching for small airbubles usually they use this after the sniffer to find the

exact location.

I'm trying to find a good (reliable) place here in Pattaya that will look at it. I've turned the valve off on the hose to the engine in case it is from that point onwards but no gas smell in the boot.

If the copper delivery line under the vehicle isn't protected by a plastic sleeve, debris flying up from the road could put a minuscule nick in it. It would be a rare fault, but it does happen.

I'd carefully drive it down to the repair shop and let them deal with it.

In the mean time park out in the open and not in a depression like a dip in your driveway or the road. LPG can accumulate until it is at the right air fuel ratio.....then one spark and boom!

The line is protected but still not eliminated as a possible source... As suggested maybe the solenoid is not fully closing on shut off & therefore leaking since you don't smell any gas (a positive sign) but that may effect how it starts as the gas would sit in the intake and then combust when starting and may backfire or have some other obvious sound effects like a sudden hard kick over.. Other then that yes best to have the joints checked first off, they are all the more likely weak points

My guess is thats at the fueltank some where.

Al together I had maybe 3 leakages over 10 years of LPG use ,al in the back where the tank was.

Pressure on this is always there and go s up to when the sun shines.

While under the hood the fuelvalve relais shuts of the pressure .

Maybe you were scammed when you filled up, keep your mind open to that - it does go on..

Yes good one this,I heard this to sometimes from other LPG drivers and one time had more liters to pay then fit in my tank

The OP already suspected something was wrong, and the filling up confirmed it.
