Italy, Britain Confirm Deaths of Hostages in Nigeria

ROME/MOSCOW, March 10 (RIA Novosti) Seven foreign hostages have been killed by a Nigerian Islamist group, Western governments said on Sunday.

The hostages - nationals of Italy, Britain, Greece and Lebanon - were captured by the militant group Ansaru in a raid on a construction site in Nigeria’s northern state of Bauchi last month.

In a statement posted online on Saturday, the militant group said it had killed the captives.

Italian officials issued a statement on Sunday saying that the news about the deaths of all the hostages is believed to be true. Later Greece confirmed the death of its citizen too.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said that the British construction worker “is likely to have been killed at the hands of his captors, along with six other foreign nationals," BBC reported on Sunday.

The Ansaru militant group emerged only last year and reportedly has ties to Al-Qaeda.

Some countries need to grow some balls when dealing with such situations. These sort of kiddnappings in Africa are only going to increase in frequency in todays current climate. Had the victims been Israeli they would probably be back at home safe and sound with the family by now as was the case after Operation Entebbe.ph34r.png

Coma - your statement is spot on mate - unless others realize the history which they live by and only the Islamists extremists understand - intimidation

That concept is lost by westerners - the only persuasive element the terrorists understand is that pain and suffering will reign down on them if they even thought about harming an Israeli – that same concept and methodology needs to be used to prevent the capture and torture of others.

If retaliation and personalized targeting of family is not employed into the methodologies used to deter their terrorizing – they will never stop - this is how they have controlled each other for thousands of years - its the only thing they understand.

BTW - why only 1 post by you on this topic

Yeah, or let the Germans deal with it. Last time Palestinians took Israeli hostages during the Munich olympics, all terrorists and hostages ended up dead.

Hahaha. What a <deleted> fight of an attempted rescue that one was. When I did some CT training a few years back they showed a documentary about that as a 'how not to do' business.

Maybe there was still a little Nazi influence in Germany when that Op went down.

Alas such an approach would be ruled out by self-hating liberals, who would be terrified of the terrorists not getting a fair trial.
