Visa Advice Needed

Featured Replies

Hey guys, first of all i would like to say great site, i have been reading the articles and a lot of help goes out from the admins and members alike, fantastic work.

Anyway here is my problem, I was living in Bali for a year getting a social budaya visa every 6 months via flying to Singapore with the documents from my sponsor. In my time there i set up 12 different area's with the help of the Kapala's (head of the villages) teaching English and computer studies for free in area's where the children could not afford education. Anyway i over stayed my visa for 2 days as i had just forgotten to extend it and had to prove i was not working there.

Any way to cut a long story short i should have informed the immigration about what i was doing and there would have been no problem, they would have issued me a letter to permit my activities and all would have been good. As i didn't and rules are rules i was deported but they have informed me i can go back in 6 months, they respect the work that i have been doing but rules are rules,

Anyway i made my way to Thailand where some friends of mine are teaching in Siracha and i have been offered a teaching job here but i do not find out the details for another 3 weeks as it is now the holidays. I know when this happens my visa will be sorted with the necessary paperwork as my friends have been here a while and everything is in order as it should be with no problems.

In 6 days though i do need to renew my visa so what i am wondering is can i fly to Cambodia and fly back and get a 30 day visa on arrival?

My next problem is my girlfriend is going to come here from Bali and stay with me until i can go back, If we were married i can go back straight away but i would rather do it with both families attending. After reading various sources of information i see she can come on a 30 day visa, she must have a return flight ticket to Indonesia and be able to show she has enough funds for her visit, well i am paying for the flight and i will be providing for her while she is here, also if i am working here can she get a special visa for a spouse so that she can stay longer.

Any information on the best way to approach all this will be mostly welcomed, i dont want or need any more problems with immigration and would like everything to run as smoothly as possible.

Thanks in advance for your time reading and any answers or advice you may have.

Yes you can fly to Cambodia or any other country and get 30 days on return

As for the other points other posters will be able to help you there.

I have talked to my Thai boss today about hiring a new foriegn teacher for next term and the MOE have restricted native English speaking teachers to 5 countries. I had an excellent CV from a woman from South Africa but was told a big no! were are you from seems to make a differnce here now, then the dependent visa is ok

PS If you have friends in Sriracha that have offered you work, and you have the documents to work here as a qualified teacher lets talk my school is about 10ks away from there and is a good one

A GF is not a spouse so would not be eligible for any special visa or extension of stay - as you clearly indicate you do not intend to marry while here not sure why you say spouse.

Can get a dependant visa though

All she would qualify for would be Tourist Visas.

All she would qualify for would be Tourist Visas.

I have friends that are on non o dependant visas as long as they have the paperwork to prove it there is no prob, or is this old news now?

Thank you for your replies, ok to start I should have used the term spouse 'loosely', we did originally plan to be married within the next 2 months but as circumstances have changed it has to be put off for a short while, as far as she is concerned she would come and marry me here but i feel it is in her best interest and mine that we do it properly and would prefer it if we waited a while longer.

I asked the question about her visa because in Malaysia it is possible to have her come as a maid, hired help, can not remember the exact term for it but i was told that would be possible so i was wondering if it would happen to be the same here in Thailand.

Thank you for your replies, I will see if it is possible for her to get a 60 day visa in Indonesia which can be extended.

I have a BA in business and have one years teaching experience. I can also provide references from students, teachers and parents as I am highly regarded in Bali for the work i did there.

To answer your last question i am from the UK, England so i am a native speaker.

The subjects i have been teaching are English and Computer Studies.

Once again thank you for your replies.
