Query About 30 Days 'under Consideration' Period For Annual Extension

Featured Replies

Is it possible to report to a different immigration office to obtain the extension based on marriage after completing the application and waiting the 30 days 'under consideration' period, or must it be where you made the application?

You have to return to where you applied.

Agree

Everything to do with your extension must be done where you obtained it. This includes re-entry permits and 90 day reports as well.

it must be at the same office as the paperwork is returned to that office from Bangkok, and another Immigration office would not know the result (which is always an okay).

Thanks all for confirmation.

It is not always from Bangkok unless you are living in it's region (region 1).

My extensions are approved in Khorat which is immigration region 4 headquarters.

Does my wife need to come with me to report after waiting through the 30 day 'Under Consideration' period, or can it just be me?

You can go alone.

You can pick up your extension stamp by yourself.

Personally I always think it is a good idea to go together when ever possible as it gives the impression of actually being a couple rather than just showing up together once a year.

But that is me.smile.png

Agree

Wife and I always go in together for 90 day reports unless she goes alone.

My wife even took my passport in for my extension stamp after the under consideration period year before last.

Thanks everyone. Usually we do go together but when this one comes up it looks like clashing with the wife's plans to visit family elsewhere, so I'll go alone for once.

One final query. Would the temporary 'under consideration' stamp qualify for exemption from overstay if I left Thailand during that 30 day period? I'm aware I'd need a re-entry permit to return and aware of the knock-on effect, but what if I departed Thailand within that 30 day period? Would that cause any problems on clearing airport departure procedures?

As long as you have the re-entry permit and return before expiration there would not be any problem.

Totally unnecessary to go both.

The officers don't care one bit if your wife is coming with you when you receive the final extension.

You really think that they get a different impression of you when you show up together or alone.

Same is for the 90 day reporting.

They rather prefer that you come alone so the office is not getting to busy in the high season.

I always go alone for my 90-day reports. Eleven years of such now and not one hassle.

I don't think that anyone said there would be any hassle.

You are probably correct and no one said any different. smile.png
