Personal Tax Id Card/required With Co. Or Not?

Featured Replies

With regards to a Thai Limited Company I know that a tax card is issued in the name of the comapny which has a number to be used with tax returns etc. If any director of the company is a foreigner, does that foreigner also need to have a personal tax id card/number to be used if/when company dividends or other profits arise from the company? Or can he/she just wait until personal income liability actually arises?

I think that a foreigner should apply for a tax id for tax purposes. See Taxpayer identification number (TIN).

I've got a tax card for my company (non-trading) and also a personal one for myself as MD. My lawyer sorted this for me.

Ditto

Anyone staying in Thailand for more than 180 days in a calendar year, is liable for tax.

Ergo they should have a tax id, irrespective of whether any tax is actually

paid. The amount of tax paid depends on whether you have taxable income to declare.

In my case my income is taxed in the UK, but I still make a declaration here.

As I understand it this applies to all expats, working or retired, but is a grey area

not often enforced.......... yet.
