D S I Tarit Chief Threatens House Panel For Questioning Him Over The 2010 " Men In Black"

The old "how dare you, do you know who I am" line again.

He doesn't have much to worry about as for months the DSI have been happily carrying out the governments bidding and presumably that carries some protection from sanctions. The only danger is if he " bites the hand that feeds " and finds against any PTP or red shirt member

It really makes me wonder, in 2010 there were several occasions where the red shirts seemed to pre-empt the government's activities. At the time it was put down to red supporting police, and "watermelon" soldiers. Could it be he was in Thaksin's pocket the whole time, and feeding info from the heart of CRES?

You're very correct. I strongly believe he was the one leaking audio and video clips to the reds.

DSI chief threatens House panel

let's hope that the judicial system gets to see this guys act first hand. I can see it now, "I'm an integral part of the Thaksin machine, everyone of you will be charged with a serious crime by the end of the day. I will also release your addresses and phone numbers to the red shirts."

So in addition to Chalerm's thinly veiled threat at the Election Commission we now have Tart threatening the House panel.

Strongarm government at work.

Yes, it is possible. However, I think the more likely scenario is that he wanted to keep his job. After all, Jatuporn was going on about how fired/dead this guy was going to be during the 2010 violence.

I must say that I have never witnessed anyone change their stance as diametrically as Tharit has. Quite a few Thai actors could learn a lot from him.

The old "how dare you, do you know who I am" line again.

I bet it would have been a different song if Chalerm was the chair of the committee.sad.png Thai politics at it's normal cruising speed.

You don't suppose that after Thaksin in effect told the whole world he was the Prime Minister of Thailand and Yingluck was a puppet (and not a good one at that) he called Tarit Pengdith and told him the men in black were untouchable?

Guilty as hell of hypocrisy and he knows, why else would he do a big dummy spit and run away to go tell Thaksin on them. But the good news is that cracks are begining to show in the Thaksin political machine, the reds are threatening to revolt, his public appeal is waning, and his supporters are starting to crack under the strain. Keep up the good work.

This man shold be fired immediately. No inactive post, just FIRED. Further, he should be banned from any holding any civil service or other public office for life.

I would also suggest an immediate investigation into his assets to determine if any came from dubious sources.

This man is totally unfit to hold the position he has. He has shown that he has nothing but contempt for the people of Thailand, whom he is supposed to be serving.

If there was ever any doubt that his zealous treatment of Abhisit and the democrates was 'ordered' from afar, this is it.

He also said that the committee did not have any authority to question CRES operations or DSI's investigation, since the law protects both agencies in their work, and questioning can adversely affect the cases.

If the law protects the CRES why were k. Abhisit and Suthep charged for their work in the CRES?

You are gonna have to be patient, the answer will come soon, I am sure.

Hi Boss, Tarit here, I think I'm in the sh#t, things are starting to

unravel back here. I'm being questioned more about my involvement in

CRES every day. Any suggestions?

Well, I guess I don't have to ask PM Yingluck as obviously this is not related to government or politics, but juridical only apart from the fact that she probably hasn't been told (yet) and is very busy promoting Thailand is a stable country worthwhile for foreigners to donate invest in, and convince those pesky foreigners that really we take care of refugees, elephants, women, etc., etc.

Please give us some time, we've only been at it since after July 2011

Can this guy become anymore of a parody of himself, he's probably going to go down in history as one of the silliest political officials of the era. Would someone remind how obviously biased, arrogant and ridiculous he's become. There he is, summonsing former prime ministers for questioning, humiliating Abhisit with criminal fingerprinting secretly filmed. When he is called to a House Committee he fobs them off, then turns up only to storm out and threaten legal action. This is obviously how he and his master in Dubai think you can run a country. It's even more of a joke that he switched sides. And he wonders why no one takes him seriously.

Threatening and bullying is normal behaviour for these people.

Watch carefully how they conduct themselves and you will release they prey on the weak, whom they exploit at every opportunity.

Show no weakness to them, speak the truth and they become angry, resentful and frustrated.

It's what happens when your politicians have sub-three digit IQs.

Curious, the normal posters are strangely silent thus far.

So a duly empanelled committee of the House [representing the people and the civilian rule of law] find themselves in the situation where a public servant acts in a manner more fitting for a prima donna and flounces out in high dudgeon because lawmakers dare to ask the anointed one questions relating to his alleged field of expertise and experience.

Is not contempt of parliament actionable here?

Edit Typo

Is not contempt of parliament actionable here? Apparently not. The current PM rarely deigns to attend.

"Question time? I don't answer questions!"

Thailand's very own J Edgar Hoover.

It is commonly know that the CIA and the FBI regularly lie to Congress and Congressional committees. I have no doubt that a similar situation obtains in Westminster and most of other countries governing bodies. I think it possible that Thailand has it down to an art form.

It may be too early to ask if k. Tarit made his threats reality, but the 'Tarit said he would submit a complaint to the House Speaker today' was from the 14th. I guess k. Tarit has submitted a complaint?

Perhaps he went to the deputy house president (subject of another thread today) and was told where to put his complaint.

House panel to summon Tarit to testify again

A House committee on Wednesday unanimously resolved to summon Department of Special Investigation Tarit Pengdith to give statement to the committee again over the operation of the so-called men in black during the 2010 political riots.

Democrat party list MP Watchara Petthong, chairman of the House Committee on Political Development, Media and Public Participation said the committee resolved to take recourse the Summons of House and Senate Committee Act 2011 to summon Tarit to give his statement again.

The committee also resolved to file a complaint with the Justice Ministry over Tarit's objection of the committee's authority to question him saying the works of DSI and the Centre for Resolution of Emergency Situation are protected by the Information Act 2007.
