News_Editor
Police say suspected rebels have killed one Indian paramilitary soldier and wounded three others by detonating an improvised explosive device while they were patrolling the northeastern border with Burma. Manipur State Police Chief Joykumar Singh says the explosion occurred on Friday near Moreh, a trading town on the India-Burma border about 650 km (405 miles) south of Gauhati, the Assam state capital. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast. More than a dozen separatist groups are active in Manipur state and often stage hit-and-run attacks. Most locals are ethnically closer to groups in Burma and China than to the rest of India.—AP Source: Irrawaddy.org
