Double Entry Tourist Visa Vientiane 05-03-2013

Featured Replies

My triple entry tourist visa, which I got in Antwerp, was finished so I travelled to Vientiane.

I applied on 05-03-2013 for a double entry tourist visa paid 2000 baht, no questions asked and could pick it up the next day after between 13.00 and 15.00 hour.

I have a dutch passport.

so it was a succesfull trip and thought I report it.

30, 60 or 90 day?

A double entry tourist visafor a Dutch national is of course two times 60 days, both entries to be extended by 30 days.

rolleyes.gif Yes, but the visa has an expiration date by which BOTH entries must be used.

Is the expiration date on your double entry visa 90 days after the date of issue of your visa?

Or is it only 60 days or perhaps 180 days?

It should say "must be used by" or "must be used before" and a stamped or handwritten date entered there.

Exactly what that expiration date syas is a key question.

Because as I said before, with a double entry visa BOTH entries must be made before that expiration date.

Vientianne is always validity of 3 months, regardless of number of entries. Even with 3 entries you still only get a 3 month validity.

g'day Baco

i was thinking of the same...do you have to show a e ticket to leave at the end of the stamps or just your return ticket to Bangkok ? Thanks

so with the double it means you stay for 60, extend at immigration for 30 and then fly out and come back to re-activate the next for another 90 days ?

Thanks !

No need to show ticket out of country for visa.

After getting 30 day of extension of first 60 days you have make a trip out of country and return to use the 2nd entry prior to the visa expiring (use before date). You can do this land, sea or air.

Thanks ubonjoe that is a lot of help as the Singapore Thai Embassy page shows you must have your return ticket out of the country which is a major pain...

I will make my plans to fly off to Vietiane as adviced here, so just money, photo and a passport for the trip down to the embassy :-) I can manage that krop khun mak krup !

You will also need the normal copies of passport and believe they also require of your arrival in Laos stamps.

The biggest advantage for getting it in Vientiane is that it will be a 2 entry visa plus the trip is less costly than Singapore.

Check Nok Air for flights to Vientiane they are a fly/ride service via Udon Thani.

You will need photos for the Lao visa on entry plus 2 for the Thai visa. Also you will need copies of your passport photo page and the Lao visa/entry stamps.

Heading off next week for this and will report back ..thank again guys ..fingers crossed and I have my doubles for another 6 mths here

G'day Lopburi3 & Ubonjoe

Is it possible to get a multiple entry on this double tourist visa mode ?

A tourist visa always has a certain number of entries, 1, 2 or 3.

One could get a re-entry permit, but that would not add any day. Only keep the original permission to stay alive.

A follow-up question about the Thai embassy in Vientiane...

Do you know if they can issue multiple entry non immigrant "B" visas? If they can't, any neighbouring countries that can?

They do not issue multiple entry visas.

Penang and KL in Malaysia do them if you have a work permit and all the required company documents.

If no work permit Australia would be nearest place.

Thanks Ubonjoe !

Just finished up the visa experience and it was all as described

Only difference is for a Singapore passport they will only issue a single and not a double and it's free and there the no fees

So it's free for Laos entry and free for the single Thai visa but I would rather pay to get the double so that I can spare myself the same hassle 3 months later

Hahahah since the visa is free I wonder if they will charge $1900 baht for the 40 day extension ...going by Thai logic probably yes

very sian

You will be charged 1900 baht for the 60 day extension. Bi-lateral agreement for free visas does not include the extension fees.

Yes, actually when you get one entry of tourist visa for 60 days you can stay up to 90 days by extend the visa and pay 1900 baht but your visa must be valid at the time you request for the extension.

No, for the extension your visa doesn't have to be valid. Your visa must be valid when you make the second entry into Thailand.

I can't quite see the point in using that fly/ride Nok air idea... do they have special Nok Air vehicles on the ground or is it just the same buses that anyone else does? Any advantage? Thanks...
