Money Transfer

Featured Replies

Hi is it possible to transfer money from a regular Bangkok Bank savings account to a Malaysian bankaccount? In my case i would like to transfer money to my friend with a HSBC account in MAlaysia,if not possible then what other solutions are there?

thanks for any suggestions

some potentially lower cost options are :

open an account with hsbc thailand - hsbc to hsbc transfers are cheaper

open an account with a malaysian bank in bkk - then get friend to get acc with same bank and do txfr

open another account with thai bank and send friend atm card for account - to do txfr just put money in acc and tell friend

send a cheque in the post

get pay pal accounts and do txfr

theres probably more but i dont know the cheapest

Hi khunBob,thank u,hmm im not to much into that banking stuff, the solution with the cheque sounds good,do u mind explaining me how to do that?

talk to your bank - but check the costs at both ends and compare with an electronic tranfer...

Be careful with the check transfers it might take a while. The trick with the atm card sounds good. If you need quick money transferred I have been saved by using a visa credit card.

Also be carefull of Thai bank account/ATM card method. I bank with Siam City and when in Penang recently found to my horror that my ATM would not work. Luckily had enough cash just about but it spoilt what could have been a more enjoyable visa run.

Does anybody have an ATM from a different bank that works overseas?
