Question: Possibilities After 60+30 Days

Featured Replies

Hi All,

soon will expire my 60 days tourist visa and I will extend with 30 days - but what I should do after this? I searched many website's but I was unable to find sure infos, so the question: after 90 days just simple I need to go out for 1-2-3 days with airplane (or bus) to visit a other country, and come back again and than I can stay 30 days at plus? (In some website's I readed that is not OK now - if in last 6 month I was 90 days than will be not possible this option - is that true, or untrue?)

Thanks!

What is you intent? Stay here how long? Do what?

If just as tourist you can obtain a new single or two entry tourist visa with an overnight stay in Vientiane or Savannakhet at least one time and likely several. That would cover a tourist stay of six months or more. There is no rule for staying out of country but visas may not be issued if many in passport and you appear to be illegally working rather than a real tourist. If you just cross border and return 15 days is what most get and by air that becomes 30 days. Again no firm restriction but after a few questions would likely be asked. There is also a study visa which many planning long term stay find useful (to study Thai mostly) which allows 90 day or longer extensions of stay.

Thanks you advices!

I readed many times something as this: "Stays on Tourist visas do not count towards the 90 days in six months rule." This is still true?

No working, just living - and I thinked also to learn thai, but I not believe that I will stay so much here to learn to speak good thai language, and just for study visa I don't want to start, that is not nice option for me.

Thanks again,

There is no 90 Days in 6 Month rule

As said above it all depends how long you want to stay.

Border run will give 15 days.

Return by air will give 30 days.

Get a Single Tourist Visa and get 60 days plus 30 days extension.

Get a 2 Entry Tourist Visa and get double the single version.

Hm, I'm not sure how long - maximum to September, October. (Can be that in meantime I want to travel in other country for 2-3-4 weeks, but now that is unclear.)

"Stays on Tourist visas do not count towards the 90 days in six months rule." This is still true?

That six months rule totally ended several years ago when they made visa exempt entry by land 15 days rather than 30 days. But it never applied to visa stay.

I think the answer you are looking for is that whatever you do, it will involve leaving Thailand and getting a visa from another country.

Easy option is to go get a double entry Tourist Visa from Laos, or just about anywhere really.

You can get tourist visas with as many as 3 entries in your home country. I suggest doing this before starting your trip.

This would help for your side trips to other countries because you would get 60 days for each entry extendable by 30 days at immigration.

Hi All,

thanks for your answers, help - one month, and I will travel to Laos for my 2 entry tourist visa. :)

Off: I subscribed last year on thaivisa newsletter. Before I get every day, but in last 3-4 weeks just 1-2 times - is any error, or no?
