Turned it on this morning and there's nothing. They advertised an upgrade on 19 April; which would place it down from 0001 to 0800, but there's nothing on their website about today!

No, wish that it was. It's hot, dry and the air is full of burnt sugar cane leaves. Turned out it was a glitch in my set top box. Reset it and everything is okay Didn't do it earlier because if they are doing an update and you unplug the box everything is screwed up.
