Is it possible to get a tourist visa by giving my passport to the embassy in the morning and get it back in the afternoon- as is the case in Penang?

Next workday afternoon is normal (but was not asked).

<p><img alt="rolleyes.gif" height="20" src="http://static.thaivisa.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif" title=":rolleyes:" width="20" />  As lopburi3 corectly said, the normal procedure in most Thai consulates anywhere in the world is for you to turn in your pssport and visa application in the morning of the first day and then reurn to pick up the visa and your passport the next afternoon.</p>

<p>They may possibly allow same day service in an emergency.... but that would be very unusual.</p>

Kast time I did it there it was collect next day.
